The Role

Our growing professional services network of member firms needs an IT Systems Manager who will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring that information and communication systems, applications and equipment across our network of member firms are operating effectively and efficiently and who can maintain and expand our computer networks as they grow.

The ideal candidate will be able to manage our WAN information and communication platforms, while looking for ways to grow our networks in a cost-effective way to meet future needs as our member firm network expands. The It Systems Manager will be responsible for developing network maintenance and growth plans, creating annual and project budgets and keeping the executive team up to date on the latest networking technologies that could help the company to succeed.

He or she must coordinate between the company and external vendors and contractors about IT-related infrastructure and development; and second, the role holder will consult with our external IT support contractors on any issues that might come up and advise about potential fixes or efficiency controls.

An outstanding Technology Director should be able to ensure smooth, secure, and consistently updated technical operations within our professional services network. Responsibilities & Duties

Systems Management

  • Administration, management and oversight of all digital assets across the network of member firms
  • Managing specification of standard hardware and ensuring compliant procurement
  • Tracking and audit of group hardware
  • Internet domain management and configuration as required
  • Development and maintenance of IT policies

Data & Cyber Security

  • Ongoing security review of assets and remediation where required
  • Ongoing review of how to appropriately protect our assets, communication and data
  • Managing any major IT incidents, ensuring lessons are learnt and corrective action taken
  • Development and maintenance of Disaster Recovery plan


  • Management of mobile contracts(?)
  • Assessing the risks relating to use of mobile
  • Consideration and implementation of security measures
  • Authoring and maintenance of mobile technology policies

IT Support

  • 2nd line support after our external IT contractors on desktop break-fix issues
  • Dealing with ad-hoc enquiries from network users outside of break-fix
  • Liaising with our external IT contractors on local hardware issues
  • Licence management across all software used by the network of member firms alongside our external IT contractors

Starter and leaver administration

  • Ownership and development of starter and leaver processes
  • Policing of starter/leaver procedures
  • New starter procedures:
  • Administration of ordering equipment
  • Building and configuration of desktops
  • Configuring cloud services for all relevant services
  • Ordering of new business domains
  • Leaver procedures:
  • Archiving of personal mailboxes and other stores of business information
  • Repurposing equipment

Existing Systems

  • Administration of the following existing systems (alongside BC):
  • Exchange
  • SharePoint (or equivalent)
  • Mimecast
  • VOIP platform, including configuration of hardware as required
  • Ongoing review of Office 365 apps and functionality and assessment of applicability to group

New Systems

  • Assisting with procurement of new cloud services and other software
  • Assistance with data migrations and QA testing
  • Assistance in user onboarding and resolving basic user issues
  • Development of SharePoint (or equivalent) to build a Group information resource (intranet)

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field is preferred.
  • Proof of continued education such as certifications is desirable.
  • Management experience in an IT environment
  • Sound working knowledge of IT operations, systems, and developments.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows software, including Office, and Exchange.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven experience managing IT infrastructure and services.
  • Proficient in computer hardware, cabling installation and support, wireless technology applications and interface, and IT security.
  • Ability to fulfil multiple roles simultaneously
  • Multi-tasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
